McCarty Claims Sullivan Fall Brawl Champion

The Mt. Vernon High School girls wrestling team turned in a strong performance this weekend, showcasing grit, growth, and determination across all weight classes. Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Madalyn McCarty, who captured 1st place at 140 pounds. McCarty dominated her bracket, setting the tone for Mt. Vernon’s success on the mat. Mariyah Buchanan also had an impressive outing, finishing 2nd at 135 pounds. Justice Stillwagoner secured a 3rd-place finish at 130 pounds, while Paislee Hoehn battled her way to 3rd at 100 pounds. Natalie Kuhn wrestled tough to take 5th place at 145 pounds, and Amelia Oliver earned 5th at 190 pounds. Rounding out the team’s efforts were Jaylan York, who placed 4th at 125, Ambryn Siddons, who placed 9th at 155, Baylee Stallings, who placed 6th at 105, Micah Lamberson-Angle, who placed 8th at 120, and Aidyn Breeze, who placed 8th at 110. The team would claim 3rd place, behind Southridge and Bloomington South. The Lady Cats are back in action this Wednesday at Tecumseh.
