Lady Cats place 3rd in the Silver Bracket of the Merry Mule Tournament. In this morning's contest the Cats came up short falling to West Frankfort 26-34. Mount Vernon was led in scoring by Aubrey Grimes with 10 points, while Gloria Guerrero led the rebounding effort pulling in 9 rebounds. The Cats bounced back with a win in their second game of the day with a decisive 43-26 victory over the Wolfgals of Flora. Mount Vernon was led in scoring by Stella Hall with 24 points, and 10 more from Guerrero. Grimes led the rebounding effort pulling in 10 of her own. The team finished the game with 100% shooting from the free throw line. Mount Vernon moves to 7-10 on the season. Conference play resumes January 6, as Mount Vernon travels to South Spencer to take on the Rebels.
