Lady Wildcats Battle to Sectional Runner-Up Finish at IHSAA Sectional #13 The Mt. Vernon High School girls wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance on their home mats, finishing Sectional Runner-Up at IHSAA Girls Wrestling Sectional #13, hosted by Mt. Vernon on Friday. In a very competitive sectional, the Wildcats showcased grit, depth, and championship-level effort from start to finish in an effort to defend their title from a year ago. The team race came down to the wire, with the top three schools separated by fewer than 20 points, underscoring just how tight and high-level the competition was throughout the tournament. Mt. Vernon finished second overall with 185.5 points, narrowly trailing Southridge and holding off a strong North Posey squad. Team Standings – Top Five Southridge – 202 Mt. Vernon wrestlers who finished in the top four of their brackets have earned the opportunity to advance to the IHSAA Girls Wrestling Regional on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Bloomington South High School. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. CT. Mt.
