Vernon High School Athletics is proud to announce a new chapter for Wildcat Boys Soccer with the hiring of Head Coach Oluwatobi “Coach Ojo” Ojo and Assistant Coach Xavier “Coach Angel” Angel — a staff that blends global experience with hometown pride. Together, this pairing represents a powerful combination of high-level playing experience, proven coaching knowledge, and a shared commitment to developing student-athletes the right way. Leading the Program: Coach Ojo Coach Ojo brings an international perspective and a deep understanding of the game shaped by his journey from Lagos, Nigeria to competing at the professional academy level and as a semi-professional player in England . With more than a decade of coaching experience spanning high school, club, and collegiate programs, he has built a reputation for developing players both technically and tactically while mentoring young men beyond the game . His vision for Mt. Vernon Soccer is centered on structure, accountability, and growth — aligning seamlessly with the department’s LevelUp philosophy. “I want to build a program with a clear identity — one rooted in discipline, competitiveness, and pride,” Ojo shared. “Soccer is the vehicle, but the goal is to develop young men who represent Mt. Vernon in the right way every day.” Welcoming One of Our Own: Coach Angel Joining Coach Ojo’s staff is a name well known throughout the Wildcat community — Xavier Angel. A Mt. I’m excited for the opportunity to give back, build relationships, and help our players grow both on and off the field.” A Shared Vision Moving Forward While their journeys to Mt. Vernon look different, Coach Ojo and Coach Angel are aligned in their approach — emphasizing development, accountability, and character.
