Mt. Vernon High School Athletics is proud to announce that recent graduate Brennan Austin has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Vincennes University, where he will compete for the Trailblazers' golf program. Family, friends, teammates, coaches, and community members are invited to celebrate Brennan's accomplishment during his official signing ceremony on Friday, July 17, 2026, in the MVHS Athletic Foyer. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m., with the signing ceremony beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. Brennan leaves Mt. Vernon as one of the most accomplished golfers in recent program history. A four-year varsity letterwinner, he was named the team's Newcomer of the Year as a freshman before earning Most Valuable Player honors during his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. He earned PAC All-Conference as a junior, qualified for the IHSAA Regional as a senior, and was awarded the McNamara Family Scholarship to pursue collegiate golf and a golf-related career. At Vincennes University, Brennan plans to major in Kinesiology and Sports Management while earning his PGA Certification, combining his passion for athletics with a future in the game of golf. When asked why Vincennes University was the right fit, Brennan shared: "I wanted to continue playing the sport I love at the college level. When I visited VU, I loved the campus. I could see myself going there. I felt comfortable there during my visit and had a good connection with the golf coach." Brennan will be joining one of the premier junior college golf programs in the country. Vincennes University is a member of the Midwest Athletic Conference and has captured three NJCAA Division III National Championships (2013, 2016, and 2018) enroute to developing a tradition of excellence under longtime Head Coach Dennis Chattin, an NJCAA Men's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee. The Trailblazers have also produced numerous All-Americans and continue to compete among the nation's top junior college golf programs. Please join us on Friday, July 17, as we celebrate Brennan's commitment and recognize this exciting milestone in his academic and athletic journey. Congratulations to Brennan and his family on this outstanding accomplishment. The entire Mt. Vernon community is proud of all he has achieved and looks forward to following his success as he transitions to a Trailblazer. Congratulations, Brennan, and Go Trailblazers!
