Mount Vernon High School

In a sectional that is traditionally difficult, the MVHS Boys Cross Country team stepped to the line at Angel Mounds on Saturday ready to compete. The additional powerhouse teams and the strong wind added new levels of difficulty for the boys to battle. After setting PR's last weekend, the boys set lofty goals for themselves as they entered the race. Despite falling short on those, the guys did set career PRs for the course at Angel Mounds! Leading MV from start to finish was Malachi Spainhoward. The junior cut 2 and a half minutes from his time at the Mater Dei Invite and finished in 22:05. Sophomore Mason Hagan also set a course PR by cutting just under a minute as he crossed the line in 22:46.4. Junior Brendan Hubbard was third for MV as he muscled through the finish in 24:13. Finishing 4th for MV was Sophomore Ryan McCollum who bested his course PR by over 2 minutes (25:00). Unfortunately for the guys, this officially ends their season but with the amount of improvement made over the course of a season, we are excited to see how much more they can improve next year.
