The Mt. Vernon boys soccer team lost another hard fought, close game on Monday night when they traveled to Princeton to take on the Tigers. For the fourth straight game the Wildcats held their opponents scoreless in the first half, but for the fourth straight game they also couldn't find a goal. Once again the halftime score was 0-0, thanks to solid defense from junior Hunter Watzlavik and sophomores Whitaker Hartman and Isaac Hamilton and freshman CJ Gentry and Dillon Kuhn. Senior keeper Max Hamrick also came up with some big saves in the half. The Wildcats had several good opportunities to score, but the Tiger defense kept them in check. After the break the Wildcats were caught off guard with a quick goal by the Tigers. Mt. Vernon kept their heads in the game and found some offensive chemistry that has been missing for much of the season, but it didn't result in an equalizing goal. Princeton added a final goal with five minutes remaining to take the game 2-0. Mt. Vernon hosts Harrison on Thursday night at 5:30.
