The Mt. Vernon Lady Wildcats placed fifth at the Sectional today at Fendrich (par 70.) Castle was the team champion, while Memorial took second, and North earned the 3rd team spot to advance to the Washington Regional. Castle's Ashley Kirkland was the individual champion with 6 under par 64. The Wildcat's team score of 381 was a season best for the girls, falling short of the North Huskies by 10 strokes to advance to the regional. Reitz placed 4th, beating the 'Cats by only two strokes. The low round for Mount Vernon was sophomore Libby Reese, who carded 42 on the front nine and fought back with a 39 on the back for a personal best 81. That was the 6th best individual score of the day, which qualified her as the first individual to the regional at Washington next weekend. Senior Shelby Lang carded her career personal best 18 hole score as well with a solid 95. Junior Aubrey May came in with 100, senior Jaley Hamilton 105, and sophomore Attalia Wolf also had 105.
