Mt. Vernon's boys soccer team took on county rival North Posey on Tuesday night and found themselves in an all too familiar position, having to make a comeback after giving up an early goal. North Posey opened the night's scoring with an early goal in within the first 10 minutes. The Wildcats responded well and picked up their level of play. The Cats had several shots on goal, but it wasn't until late in the first half that they found the equalizer. Senior Kyle Lindenschmidt took the ball team to the North Posey end line and crossed the ball in to freshman Zane Johnson who scored his first career goal. In the second half the Wildcats continued applying pressure but couldn't get the ball past the Viking keeper. North Posey took a deep shot midway through the half and barely got the ball under the crossbar to take the lead. Mt. Vernon kept pushing but never found the equalizer. The game ended with a 2-1 loss. Mt. Vernon takes on Boonville Thursday night at home and the game will serve as the boys' senior night where they will recognize seniors James Basden, Hayden Deckard, Max Hamrick and Kyle Lindenschmidt.
