The Mt. Vernon Wildcats closed out the regular season with an exciting comeback win over South Spencer on Thursday evening 65-64. Meyer Robb hit the go ahead with 3 with 12 seconds remaining for 3 of his team 16 points. That shot capped off a big 2nd half comeback where Mt. Vernon trailed by 12 going into the 4th, but their defense forced several turnovers that led to transition baskets and allowed the Cats to get back into it. A steal and a layup by Nash Hostetter tied the game at 62 and South Spencer answered with a bucket to go up 2 with about 40 seconds remaining. This led to Robb's three pointer and the Wildcat defense secured a final stop at the buzzer to win. Robb led the Wildcats with 16 points, Nash Hostetter had 13 points, Bryce Clowers and Greyson Buse each had 11. Jack Campbell had 2 first half threes for 6 points, Brady Schickel had 5 and Ryder Snodgrass had 3. The Wildcats will enter Sectional play having won 3 of their last 4 when they take on Heritage Hills Tuesday evening at Boonville in the 2nd game at approximately 7:15pm. #PLAYHARD #GOCATS
