Brady Schickel Has Committed to Play Football at Franklin College Mt. Vernon High School Athletics is proud to announce that Brady Schickel, Class of 2026, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Franklin College, where he will compete for the Grizzlies football program. A four-year varsity letter winner and team captain, Schickel has been a cornerstone of the Wildcats’ football program. His honors include Newcomer of the Year, Lineman of the Year, Defensive MVP, four-time All-Conference recognition, All-Southwestern Indiana honors, and Indiana All-State distinction. He also concludes his Mt. Vernon career as the program’s single-season and career sack record holder, highlighting his consistent impact on the defensive side of the ball. Schickel plans to major in Business Management while competing in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). He selected Franklin College for its football culture, strong relationships with the coaching staff, and the overall campus environment. “I chose Franklin College because of the football culture, the connection I have with the coaches, and the campus,” Schickel said. “I’m excited to play for Mike Leonard, a Hall of Fame coach, and be part of a program that is growing, competing, and pushing players to improve every day—both on and off the field.” Under Coach Leonard’s leadership, Franklin College Football has built a winning tradition and continues to develop student-athletes at a high level within the HCAC. The Mt. Vernon community is invited to celebrate Brady’s commitment at his college signing ceremony on Friday, March 13, 2026. Additional event details will be shared as the date approaches. Congratulations, Brady! We are proud of you! {For more information on Franklin College Football, visit: https://franklingrizzlies.com/sports/football}
