The Mount Vernon Wildcats had a remarkable day at the pool Saturday, with record-breaking times and swims full of heart and grit! While the team was simply too small to take the total points, both teams fought to the finish and came home Runners-Up this year. What they couldn’t accomplish by size, they simply made up for in performances, with the most outstanding PAC wins, records, and heart ever! Every single swimmer dug deep and gave the swim of their life, helping the team hold the line on points. Mount Vernon should be extremely proud of these Wildcats' heart and determination! The quality of swims yesterday was simply outstanding, showcasing the massive amount of dedication and hard work the Wildcats put into their training. Our newest swimmers and divers also showcased the Wildcats program strengths, surpassing all expectations and showing why Mount Vernon Swimming & Diving is the place to be. 4 PAC RECORDS were broken! Senior Ozzy Jankowski- 100 Butterfly (49.29) and 100 Backstroke (50.94) Sophomores Camas O’Daniel- 100 Breakstroke (1:01.70) Peyton McDaniel-200 IM (2:07.47) The boys 200 Medley Relay was just .7 off the PAC Record. 2 SCHOOL RECORDS were broken! Senior Ozzy Jankowski- 100 Butterfly (49.29) and 100 Backstroke (50.94) Ozzy’s 100 butterfly cracked the 2026 All American swim consideration time. Several Wildcats walked out with 4 Champion medals: Ella Wells- 200 free, 500 free & relays Ryan McCollum- 200 free, 500 free & relays Peyton McDaniel- 200 IM, 100 breaststroke & relays Ozzy Jankowski- 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke & relays EVERY SINGLE MOUNT VERNON swimmer set a lifetime best record swim of their own. The exciting news is that the Wildcats have not even entered their taper phase of season yet. There is so much to look forward to out of these swimmers and divers!
