The Mount Vernon Wildcat swimmers gave it their all at Sectional Finals today, placing 4th overall- every swimmer scoring points for the team. Every swimmer improved at least one swim, with 13 swims being lifetime best swims adding to a phenomenal week of swimming for the hard working team. The Wildcats did not win an event for an automatic State Finals bid, but the 200 Freestyle Relay performance of Ella Wells, Jaley Hamilton, Maddie Maier, and Krissy Bazan looks to have cracked the top 20 of the state and will likely be headed to State! They anxiously await the news by tomorrow. Several swims cracked the TOP 10 of All Time Mount Vernon swims: The 200 freestyle relay of Ella Wells, Jaley Hamilton, Maddie Maier, and Krissy Bazan came in at the 9th fastest ever. Jaley Hamilton adds her 50 freestyle time of 24.93 as the 10th fastest Mount Vernon swim ever. Malley Wagner adds her 100 breaststroke time of 1:08.98 also as the 10th fastest Mount Vernon swim ever. Another relay swim cracked the TOP 16 of ALL Time for Mount Vernon swims: The medley relay of Jaley Hamilton, Malley Wagner, Krissy Bazan, and Maddie Maier came in at the 16th fastest ever. Freshman Ella Wells was just hundredths of a second from the Top 16 All Time MV swims in the 50 free with her 25.46 as a freshman, and knocking on the door of the 100 butterfly within a 1/2 second of the list. Her future looks bright! Great job to all the Wildcat swimmers. We hope to announce news of State by tomorrow!
