By Leigh Ann Latshaw | May 16, 2024 4:28 PM

Please join us on Friday, May 17, as we celebrate Connor Stevens. The senior baseball player will join his teammate Kyle Holder on the Vincennes University Trailblazer Baseball Team next year. For those attending, please allow the buses to leave Circle Drive and then enter the Athletic Foyer for this celebration which starts at 3:15 pm. While playing baseball now for more than 10 years, he has earned 3 varsity letters to date. At VU, Connor plans to major in Construction Technology. As a member of the Mid-West Atlantic Conference, the Trailblazers compete against very competitive teams such as Heartland (returning National Champions) and Parkland College, just to name 2 of the 9 schools. The reasons Connor chose VU include how well he liked the campus and the great opportunities he will have while a student athlete at Vincennes University. Vincennes is coached by Chris Barney. Coach Barney has just completed his 15th season at VU while amassing more than 100 players who have gone on to 4-year programs to complete their baseball careers. According to the VU athletic website, "Coach Barney has amassed an impressive collegiate and professional coaching resume' over the past three decades, including 13 years as an assistant and the recruiting coordinator at the University of Southern Indiana. His previous head coaching duties included heading up the Quincy Gems and Springfield Rifles of the Central Illinois League. After starting his career as an assistant with his alma mater Tennessee Wesleyan in 1989, Coach Barney has been an assistant coach with the Mid-West Sliders of the Frontier League and at Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN. In addition, he has been on the staffs of the New England Collegiate League's Vermont Mountaineers and St. John's River College in Palatka, FL."
