The MVHS Swimming & Diving team finished a solid 3rd place in the combined scoring at the Big Splash Invitational today. Teams included: Memorial (win 1045.5), North (757), Mount Vernon (611.5), Reitz (431), Mater Dei (298), Central (167), Harrison (36), Bosse (32) and South Knox (20). The unusual combined relay format of 2 boys, 2 girls showcased Mount Vernon's talent with a 5 second victory for the 200 Medley relay team of Ozzy Jankowski, Jaxston Raben, Peyton McDaniel, and Jaley Hamilton and a 4th place finish for the team of Camas O'Daniel, Malley Wagner, Ella Wells, and Eli McFadin. It was a similar placing of 1st and 4th in the combined 200 Freestyle relay, with first going to the team of Jaxston Raben, Jaley Hamilton, Ozzy Jankowski, and Peyton McDaniel and 4th for the team of John Thomason, Camas O'Daniel, Malley Wagner, and Ella Wells. For the girls, wins also went to Peyton McDaniel in the 50 free, clocking a 23.77 (MV's All Time 3rd fastest performer ever) and the 100 butterfly of 56.30. Jaley Hamilton added to her 100 freestyle victories with a 56.22. For the boys, Eli McFadin pulled out some epic victories in the sprint events today, touching fist in the 50 free (23.40) and the 100 free (23.97). Ozzy Jankowski won the 100 backstroke, moving up to the 9th spot on the MV All Time stats with a 55.85. Top 3 finishes came from: John Thomason (200 IM), Ella Wells (50 free) Ryan McCollum (500 free), Jaley Hamilton (100 Back), Malley Wagner (100 breast), and Jaxston Raben (100 breast), and the 400 mixed freestyle relay of Eli McFadin, John Thomason, Ella Wells, and Isabella Benthall.
