Congratulations to the Girls Swim team on their Sectional Finals today! The team had a fabulous day, and is sending 4 events to the State tournament next Friday & Saturday in Indianapolis. Both the 200 Medley & 200 Freestyle Relay teams of: Jaley Hamilton, Peyton McDaniel, Malley Wagner & Ella Wells won in thrilling fashion today, automatically advancing to the State meet well under the state cut times. The medley relay won in a commanding fashion, and the 200 freestyle relay won in a come from behind, epic battle to the finish, that had Wildcat fans going wild! Individually, Peyton McDaniel will be headed to State in the 50 free & 100 butterfly, setting a new school record in the 100 fly enroute to her qualifying finishes, winning the 50 free and qualifying well under the State cut time in the 100 fly. Additional outstanding final swims came from: Jaley Hamilton: 100 backstroke (2nd) 100 freestyle (3rd) Malley Wagner- 200 IM (5th) 100 Breaststroke (3rd) Ella Wells- 100 butterfly (5th) 50 freestyle (8th) Andrea Rutledge- 500 free (7th) 100 backstroke (8th) Isabella Benthall- 50 free (15th) 100 fly (8th) Victoria Poling- 200 freestyle (15th) 100 backstroke (12th) Jaycee Campbell- Diving 10th 400 freestyle relay- 6th Delaney Biggerstaff, Victoria Poling, Isabella Benthall, Andrea Rutledge We also added several swim to the Mount Vernon Top 16 All Time list: For the ALL Time Top 16 list: The medley relay rockets up to #4. The free relay enters all the way at #5!! Jaley Hamilton moves to the 10th spot in the 100 free & 6th in the 100 back. Ella Wells crack # 15 in the 100 fly for the first time!! Malley Wagner moves to #8 in the 100 breast. Peyton improves her school record in the 100 fly by another .3. The State Finals will take place in Indianapolis on Friday, February 14th, with the top16 advancing to Saturday. Good luck, Wildcats! We are rooting for you!
