By Erinn Jankowski | Feb 15, 2025 4:47 PM

The Mount Vernon Lady Wildcat swimmers finished off a fantastic season today with Peyton McDaniel's two top 10 swims at the State Finals. As the fastest freshman in Indiana in both of her events, she won the consolation heat of the 50 freestyle today (9th place). Her final time was the 4th fastest time in Indiana for the meet and just shy of the Mount Vernon school record. Her 100 fly qualified at 8th place last night, assuring her of a medal and podium finish, and today she improved her finish to end up in 6th place. Her swim Friday improves her own school record to finish the year with a 55.25. Her 2 times both fall within the consideration for All American performances to be determined in June. Jaley Hamilton, Ella Wells, Malley Wagner, and Peyton McDaniel finished their 200 medley relay in 19th place and their 200 freestyle relay in 25th place. Congratulations, ladies, on representing MV well on the State level. The Wildcats finished just shy of the top 20 teams at 22nd, the highest placing team in Southern Indiana this year. Congratulations to our graduating seniors as they end a remarkable 4 years for the Wildcats.
