MT. VERNON, IN — Mt. Vernon High School is proud to announce that standout swimmer Jaley Hamilton will be continuing her athletic and academic career at the University of Evansville. A special signing ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. in the MVHS Athletic Foyer. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this celebration. Please enter the building through Door #2 at Circle Drive, and park on the street or in the lot across the road. Guests are asked to leave Circle Drive clear until all school buses have departed. Jaley has made waves in the pool for years, building a resume that few can match. She is a four-year varsity letter winner, a four-time IHSAA State Qualifier, four-time All-Conference swimmer, and Sectional Champion every year of high school. She helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive Conference Championships and is a member of the school and sectional record 200 Freestyle Relay team. Jaley is also an Academic All-American and Academic All-State honoree. Outside of high school, she’s been a force on the club scene as well—competing with the MTV Swim Team and Greater Evansville Aquatic Team, collecting state medals, divisional championships, and Speedo Sectional qualifications. She’ll take her talents to the Division I level, joining the University of Evansville Purple Aces, a program in the Missouri Valley Conference. Jaley selected UE for its strong academic programs in Accounting and Finance and the opportunity to swim under the direction of newly appointed Head Coach Toby Wilcox. “When I first spoke with Coach Wilcox, I could immediately see myself growing under his leadership,” said Hamilton. “Meeting the team during my visit just confirmed everything—I knew UE was the place for me.” Coach Wilcox returns to Evansville with a decorated coaching career, having earned eight Coach of the Year honors and building championship programs both at UE and at Birmingham Southern College.
