Mt. Vernon High School Athletics is excited to announce the return of its 3rd Annual Mt. Vernon Athlete Camp, set for May 28, 2026, at the Wildcat Athletic Center (WAC). Designed and led by Mt. Vernon senior Brady Schickel, along with a team of Wildcat student-athletes, the camp continues to grow as a cornerstone of the department’s LevelUp commitment to developing the whole athlete—focusing on speed, agility, leadership, and connection across all grade levels. The camp is FREE for all MSD of Mt. Vernon students entering 1st through 5th grade for the 2026–2027 school year, providing an accessible opportunity for young Wildcats to engage in athletic development in a fun, high-energy environment. “This camp is a great example of our student-athletes giving back and leading the next generation,” said Mt. Vernon Athletic Director Leigh Latshaw. “It’s not just about speed and agility—it’s about building confidence, relationships, and a love for being active.” Camp Details: Date: May 28, 2026 Location: Wildcat Athletic Center (WAC) Cost: Free Session Times (based on 2026–2027 grade level): 1st/2nd Grade: 1:00–2:00 PM 3rd Grade: 2:10–3:10 PM 4th/5th Grade: 3:15–4:15 PM Siblings in other grades may attend the 3rd grade session together. Please note that 4th/5th grade students attending the 3rd grade session will not be eligible for session awards. Participants will rotate through a series of stations focused on foundational athletic skills, all led by Mt. Vernon High School student-athletes who serve as mentors and role models throughout the day. Registration is now open, with families encouraged to sign up by May 11 to guarantee a camp t-shirt. The event is proudly sponsored by The Cox Group, whose continued support helps ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate at no cost. “Brady and his fellow student-athletes are helping remove barriers to participation and create opportunities for every child in our district,” Latshaw added. “We’re grateful for Brady’s vision and the investment our high school athletes continue to make in our youth and our community.” For more information and to register, families can scan the QR code on the official camp flyer or visit mvwildcats.org and click on “Registrations.”
